Louvre Abu Dhabi's virtual podcast inspires 'optimism' amid confinement
ABU DHABI - A new cinematic podcast launched by the Louvre Abu Dhabi offers viewers an opportunity to explore the institution’s unique architecture from the comfort of their own homes.
Titled “We are not Alone,” the 20-minute podcast takes audiences through an engaging sci-fi narrative featuring the museum as the setting of a “poetic tale that takes place in a post-human galaxy thousands of years into the future,” according to Emirati news agency WAM.
Produced by experimental music group Soundwalk Collective, the podcast is narrated in six languages by an impressive cast of international performers, including Emirati singer Hussain Al Jassmi in Arabic, American actor Williem Dafoe in English and French actress and song-writer Charlotte Gainsbourg in French.
Emirati culture officials said the offering is part of the country’s efforts to inspire creativity and spread positivity during challenging times.
Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, said, "In these unprecedented times, museums have a responsibility to encourage optimism and positivity in society. I am proud to see Louvre Abu Dhabi fulfilling this role and continuing to boost public morale with ever new and innovative campaigns."
"Louvre Abu Dhabi tells the story of art history throughout the ages," added Manuel Rabate, Director of Louvre Abu Dhabi. "As we always look for new ways to experiment and innovate, we continue to explore new narratives inspired by our architecture and collection. We Are Not Alone is yet another example of our innovative approach to sharing stories of cultural connections."
The new podcast adds to the Louvre Abu Dhabi’s large digital library offering the public free virtual tours, video, audio and downloadable activities. Available on Louvre Abu Dhabi’s website, the podcast is an introduction to a future 40-minute audio tour that will be available at the museum.
